Our Story

Does this feel like déjà vu? It might be — we've been around a while.

Lendenwood Goods started back in 2009 as Cardaroo, a scrappy little eco-friendly stationery company (RIP to a great name, but hang tight — this gets better). Since then, we've grown, changed, and found our groove — now we make all kinds of unique goods and gifts, crafted with heart, a healthy dose of humor, and mostly by hand, because robots don't have a soul and also we can't afford them.

A few years ago, our hand-poured, cocktail-inspired candles started getting some real attention. We fell hard for wooden wicks and reclaimed bourbon wood — like, embarrassingly hard — and that love changed everything, including our name. In 2019, we became Lendenwood in honor of my mother, Linda, whose creativity, craftsmanship, and love for the planet still shape everything we make. (She'd be delighted and a little suspicious that we named a company after her.)

How we make things matters just as much as what we make.

From printing stationery to upcycling bourbon barrels to hand-pouring candles, we're picky about materials — borderline exhausting about it, honestly. Here's what that looks like:

• 100% soy wax, grown, harvested, and made right here in America
• Fragrance oils free of parabens, phthalates, and other stuff you shouldn't be burning in your living room
• Glass vessels worth keeping around long after the candle's gone (we see you, "I use it as a pencil cup now" people)
• Paper goods and wooden wicks from FSC-certified, sustainably managed forests
• Bourbon wood reclaimed from barrels all over Kentucky — turns out bourbon country makes great scraps
• As many local partners as we can find — printers, suppliers, makers — right here in Louisville, because we like our neighbors
